As the lovely festive song goes, “Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat”… except that it’s me getting fat. And that’s partly blamed on the Mars Bar crispie cake I ate at the Towcester festive coffee morning yesterday. Oh my goodness, it was gorgeous. Then, I ate rather a lot of chocolate brownie cakes that our daughter made today. So, I’m barely fitting into my clothes and Christmas is still a few weeks away.
But, back to the festive coffee morning… the Towcester library kindly invited me to be part of their festive morning, and it was really good fun. I had a few visitors to my little stand, and I talked about my book and sold a few too, which was an added bonus.
I love being in a library, surrounded by books. But, it’s easy to forget how desperate our libraries are for funding and support. The targets they need to meet each year are huge, and growing steadily. We forget how incredible it is that any member of the community can borrow books for free and benefit from this brilliant resource. I can’t imagine a world where we’re unable to read books – if libraries did not exist, this is a world that many could face.
So, thank you to everyone that came to Towcester Library yesterday, for supporting them and raising much needed funds.
Here’s some photos of the event – my book is still selling well, which is a dream come true. Please check out my website for details on how to buy, if you are interested, and get in touch with any feedback you have. It’s very much welcomed and valued.
