It’s November already which, for writers everywhere means one thing… NaNoWriMo time! For those not in the know, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. It’s an annual scheme where writers around the world begin to write on the 1st of November with a goal of creating a 50,000 word novel by the end of the month. I admire all that do it. It takes a lot of dedication, hard work and planning. 3 things I can do but not necessarily all at the same time…Continue reading “NaNoWriMo and November writing plans”
Today is ‘Evaluate Your Life Day’. Oh yes… It’s an official day for us all to reflect on the things we’ve done, to think about the path we’ve travelled and to plan for the journey ahead of us. Or, for me, I found it’s to reflect on some of the things I really should have done by now and haven’t. Like save and plan for my retirement and be financially fab. Basically, my quick snapshot evaluation showed me I’m screwed.Continue reading “It’s Evaluate your Life Day…”
My writing month this September is almost over, and so I’ve taken the opportunity to write a review of my progress. This a) helps me actually get some words down into a blog post. And b) might remind me that I’m writing again… and making progress. I know I’ve been a bit slow in getting blog posts out… I remember writing a post promising to blog more regularly. That post was quite a while ago, possibly a year. Yes, I know… But hey, annually is regular, yes? Humph. Continue reading “My writing month review for September 2019”
5 months since I last posted? Really? Oh… that’s not on, it really isn’t. Well, I blame it on, umm…. GDPR. Yes, let’s blame GDPR, because that’s what I’ve been doing the last few months. Living, breathing, designing e-learning, analysing… And we’re still a couple of weeks until the big day. May 25th. Actually, it’s not really down to GDPR, it’s down to me being a bit, well, of a procrastinator. And a bit rubbish at keeping in touch. But, let’s just pretend it’s GDPR as it will make me feel better. Continue reading “Reflection, Contemplation and inexcusable Procrastination…”

Have you come across the ‘Ramblings of a Rum Loving Mum’ ? If not, and you like a giggle, then please do check out this very amusing blog. Created by Holly, who introduces herself on the blog home page as ‘I’m a mum, I drink rum & I like to laugh & have fun’, she talks about… well, you’ll have to read it to find out. Here’s a little chat I had with Holly, the very funny, very honest writer, who will be talking about her ramblings later this week on Secklow Sounds… Continue reading “My chat with the creator of The Ramblings of a Rum Loving Mum…”
So, this writer’s blog just hasn’t been happening. I’ve done absolutely nothing at all in terms of blogging. Not a thing. Totally unacceptable and I’m again vowing to put things right. This time I mean it. Absolutely. No doubt whatsoever, it’s happening, people! I can’t even blame it on doing lots of writing as I really haven’t since ‘Friendship, Love and Sangria was released. But I have been on holiday to France… so that’s sort of an excuse.
I guess I’ve just been working, my ‘normal’ day job, earning a wage to enable us to enjoy some of the lovely things we’ve done over the summer. So I thought I’d do a bit of a round-up of the nice bits that have happened (and I’ll miss out the not-so-nice…)
So, in no particular order…. Continue reading “When a writer forgets to blog…”
The paperback version of Friendship Love and Sangria now available on Amazon!
I hadn’t planned on releasing the sequel to ‘Friendship, Love and Apple Tea‘ as a paperback through Amazon for another month yet as it has been available to purchase directly from me since mid-June. I love sending them straight to readers as it means I can sign them if asked, and I personally post every copy. But, although I’ve shared the website link and let people know, I’ve still been inundated with emails and messages asking when it’s out on Amazon. So, here it is… Continue reading “Paperback available on Amazon…”
Using the iPhone as a writer? Well, it’s ten years since we first met the the wonderful device from Apple. Wait… what? Wow, that time has zoomed by. Those that know me well are very aware that I’m an Apple fan, a total geek, a lover of all their products and devices. Yes, much to the annoyance of my Android friends, and Windows fans, (who think that Apple products are overpriced and over-hyped, blah de blah de blah…) I stay loyal to the brand and continue to be one of those weird people that can’t walk past the Apple shop without being pulled in by some subconscious force to play with all the goodies, blinded by the beauty… Continue reading “Using the iPhone for ‘writery’ stuff…”
Confession Time… Teddy Bears. Yes, I’m admitting here on my blog that I love them and always have. Just can’t help myself. I’m the one that coos at a bear I pass in a shop, just like others may at newborn babies. My own bear came to my wedding dressed in the same waistcoat and bow tie as the other ushers. He celebrates his birthday each year and used to have a cake made by my mother (who, for some reason, has stopped… RUDE!) Whilst my friends favoured their Tiny Tears dolls, Sindys and Barbies, I had my bears. Dolls did not make me ooh and ahh, or chat or dance about. I’m of the same opinon as the late actor and writer Peter Bull who once said, “Dolls stay where they are put all day long wondering what they will wear next.” How boring to be a doll. Continue reading “‘Please look after this bear…’”
